A United Nations City.

Bonn has been a United Nations City since 1996. 19 United Nations organisations have their head offices here on the UNO Campus in the immediate vicinity of the World Conference Center in Bonn. Under the banner "UNO in Bonn - For Sustained Global Development", the United Nations has created a thematic umbrella for itself in Bonn.

The Romans took a liking to Bonn in their time. A lot of things have happened throughout the 2,000 years of the city's history and the lasting effects of the centuries make Bonn a colourful city. Today, Bonn is the location for future technologies, a lively university city and a centre for science, the home to six federal ministries and numerous organisations operating on an international basis. The native city of Ludwig van Beethoven is also an artistic and cultural metropolis with top-class exhibitions and concerts.

The delight of writers and thinkers.

The "Romantic Rhine" has been fascinating people for centuries. And today people are still enthralled by steep cliffs, wooded slopes, terraced vineyards, castles and small medieval towns. And Bonn has even more scenery to offer: The winegrowing region of Ahrtal and the idyllic Siegaue natural reserve invite visitors to take part in exciting programmes of events.
